Fabergé cane with a nephrite (jade) egg-shaped handle resting on a white guilloché enamel ring

support, decorated with gold laurel garlands in the Louis XVI style, created by Johan Victor

Aarne. Presence of the hallmark ‘88’ on the laurels of the ring at the bottom and traces of another

illegible hallmark on the outer edge of the same ring.

Note: Johan Victor Aarne, a renowned jeweller and goldsmith of Finnish origin, was active in Saint

Petersburg in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was master goldsmith at Fabergé from

1881 and was renowned for the finesse of his enamels and the exceptional quality of his

mountings.
