Galerie Delalande Paris

Charming architect’s set with silver instruments in a chagreen leather case silver mounted.

The ‘LL’ monogram appears on the top of the lid.

Inside, it contains:

– a ruler graduated in English inches,

– a folding ruler/set square graduated in French inches (for conversion purposes)

– a small baluster compass with an ink-filled point

– a pencil/pen holder, the sections of which can be used with the dry-point compass.

Opens with a push button.

Note: The presence of the ruler marked in French inches suggests that this was a special commission from an English architect working with other French architects.

Dimensions: case height 12.7 cm x maximum width 4 cm.

Made in England circa 1770.
